Daiichi 1120 Heavy Wire Scud Hook
by DaiichiThis heavy wire version of style 1130 was introduced in 1999 for those fly fishermen who need tougher hooks for heavy powerful fish, like steelhead, and for those who want heavier wire to accelerate the sinking speed of their subsurface flies.
This particular style became popularly known as a "Scud Hook" because of its shape, which is similar to the curve of freshwater shrimp (scud). Flies tied on hooks with bent shanks or continuous bends have a more natural shape or look more lifelike according to many fishers.
The hooks are made of the finest high-carbon steel, which is hardened and tempered to an exacting formula that makes for a long point life and a very strong hook. Daiichi hooks use a 12-degree constant taper ground needle point eliminating irregularities in shape, assuring no weak spots, and gives amazing speed of penetration.
